Good rankings have
nothing to hide.
ranking.fyi helps organizers turn collected picks into a clear ranking. Bring a list of entries, import ballots from a spreadsheet, review the matches, and keep a result you can explain.
The rules come with the result.
Ranked top-three ballots award 3, 2, and 1 points. A shorter ballot keeps that scale: a single first pick earns 3 points. Equal-favorite ballots give each selected entry 1 point, up to three entries. This is a points tally, not an instant-runoff election. Ties share a rank and appear alphabetically; zero-point entries remain unranked.
Check the input before counting it.
Each CSV row represents one ballot, using first, second, and third columns. Match unknown or ambiguous names to entries before saving. Repeated picks within a ballot and incomplete sequences must be corrected. You can replace an earlier import or append new ballots. Identical rows count separately, so importing a file twice adds its votes twice. The tool does not verify voter identity.
Examples are examples.
Example boards use fictional hosts and illustrative ballots. Their artwork is an original graphic treatment, not official cover art. A test ballot affects only your current example preview. Starting from a template copies its entries without copying its sample votes.
Your work stays in your browser.
Saved boards, entries, and ballots use this browser’s local storage. Imports are processed on your device. Boards are not uploaded, publicly published, or synced between devices; a board URL is not a voting link. The site itself is served by Cloudflare. Clearing browser data removes local boards, so download a backup to keep a portable copy.
Keep both the answer and the evidence.
Export CSV for a table of ranks, points, and selection counts. Download a board backup to preserve entries, rules, and ballots together; restore it from Your boards on another device. Each restored backup creates a separate board. Rules & ballots lets you inspect the responses behind a total.
Usage counts without ballot data.
On the homepage, calculator, guides and templates, we record daily counts of page views and actions such as calculating, exporting, saving and sharing. We store only the event type, page category, source category, date and total. Sources are search, internal, external, direct, Hacker News, Reddit, Bluesky or a shared result link. Recognized link tags and referrers select a category; other query values and full referrer URLs are never sent to these counters. To keep a source through internal navigation, we keep only that category in this tab’s session storage. A new recognized source tag or external referral replaces it. These counters contain no visitor IDs, IP addresses, entry names or ballots. They count events, not unique visitors or completed visits, and cannot verify voter participation or which individual actions belong together. Missing referrers, blocked storage and copied link tags can make attribution incomplete or misleading. When Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is enabled, we do not read or write this attribution storage or send these events. We delete aggregate counts after 90 days. Cloudflare also processes normal web requests to serve the site.
What comes next depends on real use.
This version supports preparing, counting, editing, and backing up local boards. Public voting links, accounts, and shared editing are not available. The immediate goal is a complete, useful workflow for the organizer who already has their community’s picks.
