EDITABLE STARTER · NO SAMPLE VOTES

Movie night voting template

Choose from films the group can watch together. A short, eligible list works better than collecting votes for titles that are unavailable on the night.

Saved in your browser. Collect responses elsewhere; a board URL is not a voting link.

Before you collect ballots

  1. Check streaming access, rental budget, runtime and age suitability before making the shortlist.
  2. Include the release year when a film has remakes or a shared title.
  3. Collect up to three preferences per person. Set a deadline before the screening.

A question you can copy

Which film should we watch together? List your first choice, then optional second and third choices.

Make the entries unambiguous

For groups that are happy with several films, equal favorites gives one point to each selected film. Decide which rule to use before people respond.

Count and explain the result

Use the points total to choose a film, with a pre-agreed tie rule. Alphabetical display of tied entries is not a tiebreaker. If access changes, explain the change and collect a fresh ballot rather than silently changing the original result.

This starter awards 3 points to the first choice, 2 to the second and 1 to the third. A shorter ballot keeps the same scale. Tied entries share a rank. Zero-point entries remain unranked.

Keep a reusable copy

After counting, export the results CSV and download a board backup. The CSV includes your scoring rule and ballot count. The backup keeps entries and ballots together for restoring on another device. Clearing browser data removes locally saved boards.
